How do boilers work?
Boilers produce radiant heat which then warms objects in the rooms in your home. Compare this to forced air furnaces which warm the air. This means boilers use less energy for objects to absorb the heat. The radiant heat from boilers make your rooms feel warmer than the actual air temperature. This is great for providing heat throughout your home during the winter months.

Do boilers “boil” water?
Boilers do not actually boil water. The term “boiler” comes from a time when steam boilers were
commonplace in peoples’ homes. The modern boiler uses natural gas.

Why would my boiler system stop working?
Various parts of a boiler can stop working including its pump and electrical components including controls and its thermostat. Excessive air can get into your boiler’s system. Low water pressure can happen. The water can freeze in extremely cold conditions. These situations can stop water from moving so the boiler cannot distribute heat properly.
